Corporate Social Responsibility

Through our corporate social responsibility efforts, we aim to help create a better future for our clients, colleagues, suppliers, the wider community and the environment.

We are committed to a number of social and environmental activities to help us achieve this goal, which we encourage every member of our company to get involved in.

Diversity and inclusion

As a global top 8 translation company with headquarters in London and offices all around the world, we have a wealth of experience in working with people from diverse communities and cultural backgrounds.

Our mission is to break down cultural and linguistic barriers and create a ‘safe’ working environment where everyone is welcome and treated equally at all times, regardless of their age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, race, political belief or civil status.

Green policy

translate plus are independently certified to the ISO 14001 standard, which is adhered to by companies committed to continually reducing their environmental impact.

Holding this certification means that we as a company have an effective environmental management system in place, which focuses on reducing our environmental impact and is measured in a number of different areas including energy use, waste management, recycling, and sustainability.

Environmental plus

As a socially responsible organisation, our goal is to become a more sustainable and carbon-neutral business by making more environmentally conscious choices every day – no matter how big or small these are. Our ‘eco-friendly’ programme ensures that we continuously improve and measure our environmental performance through the implementation of the following:

  • Assessing and re-assessing regularly the environmental impact of our activities
  • Training & informing our employees on environmental issues and climate change
  • Reducing our business waste
  • Minimising energy and water waste
  • Promoting the use of recyclable and reusable materials
  • Reducing and/or limiting the production of water, land and air pollutants
  • Controlling noise emissions

Through our green scheme we ensure that we – and our supply chain – are doing our bit to reduce our carbon footprint, something we are passionate about.

Social policy

In the UK, where we are headquartered, we are concerned with the lack of interest shown in foreign languages at secondary schools and universities because we know how valuable these skills are. To help combat this decline, we are enrolled in the Education & Employers Taskforce scheme called “Inspiring the Future”, which aims to get 100,000 people to volunteer once a year to spend an hour in a school talking with young people about their jobs.

Around the world, we also regularly speak at universities to students about their job prospects within the language industry, and offer valuable advice and guidance to those interested in a profession within the sector.

Charity support

translate plus are proud supporters of I CAN –  a children’s communication charity based in London.

Over 1 million children in the UK have communication difficulties and I CAN’s mission is to ensure that “no child should be left out or left behind because of a difficulty speaking or understanding”.

As global language specialists, we work with a variety of individuals from a range of backgrounds so I CAN’s work is something we connect with and believe in. There are various ways to donate to I CAN’s cause. One option is to adopt certain words, which we have done. By adopting words, a donation is made to the charity, which can help with providing informational DVD support to families, provide a child with one-to-one support from a speech and language specialist or access to telephone support for parents. For more information, please visit: www.ican.org.uk.

translate plus employees also support other charitable and fundraising causes throughout the year – whether that’s through organising a bake sale event or participating in running marathons.
