Sending large files to and from China: avoid the wait!

Published on June 27th, 2011

If you’re based in China, or work with colleagues in an office, supplier or distributor in that country, you may find yourself facing very slow upload and download speeds when transferring files to and from the rest of the world. When it comes to large artwork packages for DTP (desktop publishing) projects – where it’s not uncommon to be transferring gigabytes of data at a time – you may have decided it’s just not worth the wait.

translate plus have addressed this connectivity challenge with our co-located FTP servers. With servers based in China, uploads and downloads from within that country are as fast as domestic users would expect. In addition, however, our servers in China have automatic replication facilities with FTP servers in Europe and North America, via the highest-speed fibre-optic connections. This means that any files uploaded to our FTP site in China can be automatically copied to our FTP sites outside China, and vice versa. That way, translate plus and your international project teams can work seamlessly with the same file and folder structures, while enjoying all the speed of uploading and downloading locally.

So if your translation projects are simply taking too long to transfer, don’t wait to speak to us!
