The IFRC is the world's largest humanitarian organisation, comprised of 191 member Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, a Secretariat in Geneva and over 60 delegations worldwide. Its mission is to promote humanitarian values, disaster response and preparedness, and health and community care through relief operations assisting victims of such conditions and events.
The Challenge
The Office of Internal Audit & Investigations (OIAI), which sits within the IFRC, has a central role in evaluating and suggesting improvements to the organisation’s internal controls and governance processes. It carries out administrative fact-finding investigations within the IFRC and offers support to National Societies for the prevention of corruption, while fostering an integrity culture and building investigative capacities.
To handle such investigations in certain locations, the IFRC faced challenges in finding the right face-to-face interpreters who needed to facilitate communication during one-to-one interview meetings. They also needed a more centralised approach for the delivery of their transcription projects.
The Solution
Facilitating administrative fact-finding investigations across the IFRC through face-to-face interpreting & transcription.
