Translation Memory (TM)

If you require more than one file or document to be translated, there is a chance that part of the text in both files will be similar, if not identical. The likelihood of this happening when handling multiple language projects increases. This, for example, is most common when localising product descriptions, technical factsheets, web product pages or instruction manuals, as such content may contain large amounts of repeated text.

With translation memory (TM), every time we translate a new document, we store the translated text in a translation memory database as individual sentences. This means that the next time we translate content, we can reuse stored translated text from previous assignments for the same client in our TM system to improve quality, consistency and the overall translation process itself.

Translation memory benefits

  • Lower costs on language projects (including savings from legacy content)
  • Higher consistency and accuracy
  • Faster turnaround times
  • Brand tone & voice safekeeping

The TM tools we provide ensure that the same terminology is used across every localisation project, in order to enhance quality while safeguarding your brand identity.

If you have localised content available but don‘t have a translation memory, align plus is a quick solution that can create this for you from existing materials. align plus supports various file types and the process can be tailored to your needs. Post-automation, we also analyse the translation memory in conjunction with glossaries and brand style guides to ensure that it matches with and corresponds perfectly to your brand’s voice.
