Engineering

The field of engineering is very broad and encompasses many specialised sub-divisions, due to the extremely technical and scientific nature of the work.  Projects can often involve engineers from multiple backgrounds, each with specific technical knowledge and tools to aid them. Therefore when you require engineering and technical content translated, a deep understanding of the nature of the content and context by the linguist, as well as 100% accuracy must be guaranteed.

Engineering equipment

Whether your field of expertise is civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or one of the many other branches, at translate plus we only ever work with linguists who have passed our strict QA standards and with experience within your specific industry. This ensures that complex and highly technical terminology is translated accurately and without ambiguity, ensuring the highest quality every time.

Computer aided design (CAD) software such as Autodesk Inventor, DSS Solidworks, or PRO Engineer plays an increasingly important role in the development lifecycle of an engineering project. We use CAD plus, our in-house developed solution, to localise CAD drawings more easily, whilst incorporating translation memory technology and handling different character sets with ease. And our Desktop Publishing team are on hand to ensure your files are delivered in any format you require.

Much of your content may be continually updated or republished with minor changes. Rather than pay for the entire document to be translated again, our translation memory system will recognise all previously translated content, including similar and exact matches, so that you aren’t charged for this work. Content re-use allows us to reduce your costs and increase efficiency and quality.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of the types of engineering documentation we are experienced in handling:

  • operating instructions and user manuals
  • service and maintenance manuals

  • presentations and tenders

As an active member of GALA and TEKOM, our ISO 9001:2008 quality system is based on the SAE J2450 QA model, which has its roots in the localisation of service information in the automotive industry. At translate plus, we have deeply embedded this standard into our QA processes and developed a range of tools to support this. These tools collectively form part of our i plus translation management system, and have been designed to help our clients achieve the best possible localisation results whilst saving time and money.
